Stanford Lucas Expansion
The 20,000 sq.ft. 2 story medical imaging research facility houses an experimental 7T MRI, a Cyclotron suite, hot labs, and an FDA regulated production lab. Due to the radioactive material handling requirement, a special process exhaust system, which includes nuclear grade carbon filtration, radiation level monitoring, and an all welded 316L stainless steel ductwork system, was designed and constructed. The extensive mechanical installation was located on the low roof an existing building. With limited site availability, Gayner Engineers modeled the mechanical system in 3D to address design issue, such as coordination with existing structure, line of sight, equipment access, and fit test. The effort resulted in an efficient construction process of this complex system.
