The $338 million, 223,000 sq.ft. OSHPD 1 building has been granted Staff and Stock Occupancy. The 3-story hospital, which consists of a basement level, is supported by a base isolation system to accommodate up to 36” displacement differentiate during earthquakes and allow the hospital to fully function after the seismic events. The mechanical design consists of an array of complex piping ball joints for different plumbing and HVAC utilities that would accommodate the designed building movement.
