Confidential Client – Underground Vivarium Infrastructure Upgrade
Extensive field survey was conducted to document the field conditions for constructability validation. The scope includes replacing the existing air handling units with new field assembled fan wall systems with heat recovery, DDC upgrade, converting existing steam heating system to low temperature hot water heating system, installing new industrial hot water systems, tenant improvement, new electrical services, new emergency power distribution, ADA upgrade, controls upgrade, and a special filtration system to address diesel entrainment. Gayner Engineers was instrumental in the budget control process by providing multiple design options and setting priority of different components. An extensive energy modeling effort was also conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of different energy conservation measures, such as heat recovery, VAV optimization controls, constant volume to VAV conversion for certain critical labs, and pneumatic to DDC control upgrades.
